Another mobile tower issue

Sorry if my query has already been answered in another thread. I have an urgent deadline for an essay, so don't have time right now to read through all the threads carefully.
I live in Australia. My house is about 300 metres down a hill (there are lots of trees but no houses in between the tower & us) from a 3G mobile tower. I live in the upstairs part of a 2 storied house (timber & fibro with metal framed windows & big sliding doors). We have lived there for 2 years with my son, who is now 5 years old.
When I found out that a tower existed nearby (not so long ago), I was shocked & worried. I moved out to another house temporarily & I noticed my sleep improved enormously in the new dwelling. However, due to changed circumstances, we had to move back into the original house & I am not sleeping again.
I am worried about EMR from the tower (especially its effects on my child). Can you tell me if it is OK or not? Or what measuring instruments should I buy from EMFields to take measurements myself?
Alastair, I can give the address & location via private email if needed? Then the property could be seen via internet.
My problem is that the house I am in belongs to my father & he refuses to spend money on the house (& I am fairly broke). I need to live in this town until the end of the year (when I will finish a qualification & then move to a job somewhere) but there is a housing shortage so it looks as if I am stuck here. Can you advise me? I am likely to be moving house (renting) a lot in the future, so perhaps it is best I buy measuring instruments because wherever I go I will need to make sure it is safe. But I don't have a scientific background, so I am worried about whether I will be able to understand how to use the measuring instruments etc. I did consider buying a sleeping net for over my son's bed (which would be portable for wherever I move & live), but they are very expensive. I figure that maybe I should first check out the levels of the fields, rather than just buying a net first.

Thank you so much for your site & your help.

Regards
Linda

P.S
Written later: A small detail - I suppose it's not a good idea to wear earrings? Not metalic ones anyway (although I don't know if there is any alternative?). Maybe also not a good idea to sleep on an electric blanket (if it's off, I mean, because it must be similar to sleeping on a metalic spring mattress).
I just read that your electrosmog detector has a problem reading 3G signals. Perhaps my best way of finding out the levls of EMR wherever I live (including wiring in the walls & in the floor if where I live is 2-storied) is to get in a specialist who can do the readings for me (they might have the up-to-date equipment?). I imagine that might be the only answer.
