Is dLan a safe alternative to WiFi??

Hi there,

I have recently discovered that I may be sensitive to EMF.

I am looking into dlan and would like to know if you have any views on the safety of the "devolo dLANŽ Highspeed Kit" or any other dLan products as an alternative.

Looking forward to your feedback.

Many thanks in advance.

We find that this is a particularly good alternative to WiFi. It puts a small amount of noise on the electricity noise, but this is insignificant. We use them (actually, we use Netgear dLAN devices) at our office and they are reliable and give off no RF frequency radiation.

I apologise for the delay in responding, the notification system doesn't seem to be working properly!

Best Regards,
- Graham

dLANs are great, but do put some long-wave and medium-wave noise on the mains wiring. In the room, the levels are really low, but they are present and usually interfere with LW and MW radio reception. People who are very EHS may well react.

However, they are more than 1000 times lower than WiFi/wLAN signals so are vastly better than those. You should "earth" a laptop, if using one, as otherwise you can have high levels of power-frequency fields from the keyboard. This involves an earthing wire from a mains plug to the laptop. EMFields sell suitable kits for this or you can easily make your own with a plug, a length or suitable wire, and a crocodile clip to connect it to the laptop PC. Desktop PCs are Earthed already, so they do not need this extra connection.

If you are or become very EHS then you should use wired ethernet or USB connections to the internet.
