RRT Conference - "EMF & Health - A Global Issue"

The Radiation Research Trust are putting on an important international conference on the 8th and 9th of September 2008, covering most aspects of current EMF and health science and how they should be assessed for impact on public policy. The conference is drawing together representatives from WHO, ICNIRP, RNCNIRP, BioInitiative, MTHR, MOA, HPA, EC, and EEA and is hoping to drive the issue of effectively applying the precautionary principle to public guidance whilst the science is still incomplete.

Powerwatch is a non-profit independent organisation with a central role in the UK Electromagnetic Field and Microwave Radiation health debate. We work closely with decision-makers in government and business, and with other like-minded groups, promoting policies for a safer environment.

We have been researching electromagnetic field effects on health for the last 20 years, and provide a range of information to help the general public understand this complex issue.

If you feel that the work we do is worthwhile, and would like to support our efforts, please consider taking out a Powerwatch subscription. This helps financially support the time we spend keeping on top of current EMF issues and providing the information that we do. In return, you get full access to our publications and material that has come from years of research and put into a clear, easy to understand format. To see a full list including a description of what is in the subscription section, please have a look through our document library. A subscription also entitles you to ask specific questions on the subscriber forum that enable you to have expert feedback for no extra cost.

Powerwatch started in 1988 as an EMF information service. Many enquirers asked us to supply meters and screening materials. EMFields was created to supply quality measurement equipment, tested screening products and Powerwatch subscription service.

Phone Masts linked to suicide

The Daily Express covered a story on the weekend linking the increased number of suicides in Bridgend (Wales) to living proximity to mobile phone base stations. Whilst it would be useful to all to have a sound possible cause for the localised increase in suicide rate, it is extremely unlikely to have anything to do with the base stations.

Mains wiring transients linked to cancer rates

Two researchers from the United States, Sam Milham and Lloyd Morgan (who is also a columnist on our site), have found a strong and novel association between a new exposure metric, high frequency voltage transients (on mains wiring), and an increase in cancer incidence.
